ABOUT

THE CIRCULAR CENTRE is a solutions based inter-industry company geared to facilitate circular economy initiatives.  We create, showcase and foster collaboration through the lens of circular economy products and services including design, fashion, textiles and textile waste.

We create circular opportunities to minimise our negative environmental impact and maximise the positive impact on social welfare, create circular industry jobs and harness waste resources through various circular economy initiatives.

ALISON JOSE, DIRECTOR

Director Alison Jose started the Circular Centre in 2019 after running her wholesale sustainable textile business for just over two years.  STSC, Sustainable Textile Supply Chain is a service based business where Alison works with fashion and interior designers to wholesale and develop textiles to ship direct from mills to clients worldwide.

Alison educates and offers opportunities for clients to integrate circular design practices with every step.  In early 2019 she learnt that more than 679,000 tonnes of textile waste since last calculated in 2016 was being dumped into landfill each year.  Alison saw the need to take direct action on both sequestering the carbon emissions made by the garment industry plus mitigating emissions by diverting textile waste from landfill.

The Circular Textile Waste Service safely repurposes non-renewable textiles using circular design principals.    Our goal is to divert textile waste to mitigate C02 and reduce pollution from landfill especially the plastic microfibres from synthetic fabrics.  We foster on-shore circular economy industries, manufacturing & employment and training opportunities especially for Australian disability enterprises.

With the help of the remarkable Leanne Larche, Manager of Achieve Australia, the CTWS can address one of the two primary barriers to creating this service in Australia and not send the work overseas.  Through a combination of funding sources the disability enteprise is working with the Circular Centre to offer jobs that have a positive effect on the whole team.

We combine human centred design & Smart Tech to repurpose textiles into safe high quality products and offer zero textile waste solutions to businesses and government.

The CTWS is the next step beyond recycling; our full circular streams safely repurpose all textiles including the difficult textiles mixed with synthetic fibres.

THE CIRCULAR CENTRE has partnered with some of Australia's key circular design and carbon sequestering innovators to foster circular industry employment opportunities, particularly for Australian Disability Enterprises.  The Centre offers circular services for commercial & domestic textile waste, creates reuse textile streams, a carbon sequestering movement plus wholesales virgin sustainable textiles.

CIRCULAR CENTRE PTY LTD

We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the country on which we live on today, the Gadigal people of the Eora nation, and recognise their continuing connection to land, waters and culture. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging. Sovereignty has never been ceded. It always was and always will be, Aboriginal land. We recognise the past atrocities against Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of this land and that Australia was founded on the genocide and dispossession of First Nations people.
