ABOUT

The Circular Centre is a solutions based inter-industry company, geared to facilitate circular initiatives. We create, showcase and foster collaboration through the lens of a circular economy to create and offer circular products and services including design, fashion, textiles and textile waste.

We create circular opportunities to minimise the environmental impact and maximise the positive impact on social welfare, create circular industry jobs and harness waste resources through various circular economy initiatives.

ALISON JOSE, DIRECTOR

Director Alison Jose started the Circular Centre in 2019 after running her wholesale sustainable textile business for just over two years.  STSC, Sustainable Textile Supply Chain is a service based business that develops and sells wholesale eco-textiles to garment, fashion and interiors manufacturers world-wide.

STSC Alison created the Circular Textile Waste Service to encourage closing the loop, keep resources within Australia, replace toxic synthetics with sustainable materials, plus remove existing plastic fibres from the textile supply chain and ensure they are repurposed into safer products.

To paraphrase William McDonough of Cradle to Cradle, we want to ensure we "do good, not just less bad"*.

Alison educates clients and offers them opportunities to integrate circular practices through every step of manufacturing. In Australia, approximately 800,000 tonnes of textile waste is being dumped into landfill each year.

Alison saw the need to take direct action on all aspects related to climate change and pollution;  to replace synthetic textiles shedding plastic microfibres, to sequester carbon emissions made by the garment industry, as well as mitigate emissions by diverting textile waste from landfill.

The Circular Textile Waste Service safely repurposes non-renewable textiles using circular design principals. We foster on-shore circular industries, manufacturing, employment and training opportunities, especially for Australian disability enterprises.

With the help of the remarkable Leanne Larche, Manager of Achieve Australia, the CTWS can address one of the two primary barriers to create this service in Australia, to mitigate the need for work overseas.  Through a combination of funding resources, the disability enterprise is working with the Circular Centre to offer jobs that have a positive effect on the whole team.

We combine human centred design & Smart Tech to repurpose textiles into safe high quality products and offer zero textile waste solutions to businesses and government.

The CTWS is the next step beyond recycling; our full circular streams safely repurpose all textiles including the difficult textiles mixed with synthetic fibres.

THE CIRCULAR CENTRE has partnered with some of Australia's key circular design and carbon sequestering innovators to foster circular industry employment opportunities, particularly for Australian Disability Enterprises.

The Centre offers circular services for commercial & domestic textile waste, creates reuse textile streams, a carbon sequestering movement plus wholesales safe sustainable textiles.
